Brief Profile

Dr Nishant Kurian is a skilled Surgical Gastroenterologist with specialised training in gastrointestinal oncology, hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery. He has joined PSRI Hospital as a Consultant in Surgical Gastroenterology and GI Oncosurgery, where he provides comprehensive surgical care for patients with complex benign and cancerous conditions affecting the digestive system.

Dr Kurian holds an MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology, along with an MS in General Surgery and an MBBS degree. He has further strengthened his expertise through a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery and a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Oncology.

His clinical practice covers a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions, including diseases of the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, small intestine, colon and rectum. He is experienced in performing advanced laparoscopic procedures and is trained in robotic gastrointestinal surgery, enabling him to offer minimally invasive treatment options wherever clinically appropriate.

Dr Kurian has a keen interest in GI oncology and is committed to delivering personalised surgical care to patients with cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. His approach focuses on accurate assessment, meticulous surgical planning, minimally invasive techniques, enhanced recovery and long-term patient outcomes.

Alongside clinical practice, he is actively involved in research and surgical education. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications and presented his academic work at leading national conferences in surgical gastroenterology and HPB surgery. His research interests include GI oncology, HPB surgery, robotic surgery, clinical outcomes and the application of artificial intelligence in surgery.

Dr Kurian has completed the Versius® Basic Device Team Training Programme for Surgeons conducted by CMR Surgical at PSRI Hospital, further strengthening his capabilities in robotic-assisted gastrointestinal surgery.
