Brief Profile

Dr Niren Rao is an accomplished urologist and kidney transplant surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex urological conditions. He has joined PSRI Hospital as Senior Consultant – Urology & Kidney Transplant, bringing strong expertise in kidney transplantation, endourology, minimally invasive urological surgery, uro-oncology and reconstructive urology.

Dr Rao completed his MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Safdarjung Hospital and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College. He subsequently pursued M.Ch in Urology from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. His training at leading medical institutions has provided him with a strong foundation in advanced urological and transplant procedures.

Dr Rao is highly experienced in the treatment of kidney transplants, kidney stones, prostate disorders, urinary tract obstruction and bladder tumours. He has performed numeous percutaneous nephrolithotomy procedures,  ureteroscopies, transurethral resections of the prostate and transurethral resections of bladder tumours.

His surgical expertise also includes laparoscopic nephrectomy, pyeloplasty and adrenalectomy, along with major open procedures such as simple and radical nephrectomy, pyeloplasty and other reconstructive surgeries. He has assisted in robotic procedures including radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy and robotic pyeloplasty.
