Dr. Mahima Singhal is a seasoned Transfusion Medicine specialist with over 15 years of experience in blood banking and transfusion services. She currently serves as a Consultant in charge at the Blood Centre PSRI Hospital, Delhi.

Professional Experience

Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai (July 2010 – July 2011)

Dr. Singhal began her post-MD career at Tata Memorial Hospital, where she gained substantial exposure to oncology-related transfusion practices and worked with the bone marrow transplant team

Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow (Until February 2012)

She further honed her expertise in transfusion medicine at SGPGIMS, a premier medical institution known for its advanced medical care and research, where she worked extensively for immunohematology procedures.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi (February 2012 – September 2013)

At AIIMS, Dr. Singhal served as a Senior Resident, where she was involved in complex transfusion procedures and research activities and worked for the transfusion practices in trauma and cardiac patients

Dharamshila Hospital, Delhi & Lifeworth Hospital, Raipur

Following her tenure at AIIMS, she worked as a Consultant at Dharamshila Hospital in Delhi, where she started the bone marrow program with r. Suparno

She worked at Lifeworth Hospital in Raipur as the Director of Molecular Lab and contributed to the development and management of their transfusion services as well.

Moolchand Hospital, Delhi (Since August 2023)

Dr. Singhal joined Moolchand Hospital as a Consultant in the Blood Bank, where she continues to apply her extensive knowledge in transfusion medicine to enhance patient care.

 

Areas of Expertise

Apheresis and Stem Cell Procedures: She has significant experience in performing apheresis, including therapeutic plasma exchange and all the therapeutic procedures  and stem cell collection, particularly for oncology patients

Regenerative medicine: She has good experience in regenerative medicine. She has worked in this field extensively and recently presented a paper for the same at the International Conference on Laser in Bangkok I October 2024.

Immunohematology: Her work involves complex blood typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing to ensure safe transfusions.

Quality Control: Dr. Singhal emphasises stringent quality control measures in blood component preparation and testing to maintain high safety standards.

Flow Cytometry and Coagulation Studies: She is proficient in using flow cytometry for immunophenotyping and conducting comprehensive coagulation profiles, essential for diagnosing haematological disorders.

Haematology: Her expertise extends to general haematology, including the diagnosis and management of various blood disorders.

Patient blood management program is the work area of choice for her. She has taken training from the Werfen Academy for the same.

She has a special interest in molecular techniques

Public Engagement and Education

Dr. Singhal actively participates in public health education initiatives. She has conducted sessions to dispel myths about blood donation and to encourage voluntary blood donation practices.

    • Worked on research projects like massive transfusion in trauma patients and others.
    • Presented 7 posters (4 as main author, other 3 as co-author) at Transcon, 2008 (SGPGIMS, Lucknow). Our poster was awarded as the best poster.
    • The abstracts of all presented papers and posters were published in Asian Journal of Transfusion Science (AJTS Volume3 Issue1 January-June2009)
